The Five Skillsets of Empathy

Thursday, March 3, 2022

12:00 -1:00 pm

The power of empathy cannot be underestimated. It transforms all aspects of our lives – work, parenting, teaching, dating, marriage, friendships, communities, and self-care. It opens the door to include, respect, and value diverse perspectives, allowing us to understand and meet people where they are.  As courageous higher education leaders, we must lean into empathy practices in a deeper way to create spaces where students, faculty, and staff can thrive and be heard, understood, and supported. During this interactive workshop which builds on the research of Dr. Brene Brown’s (author of Dare to Lead) participants will: · Learn about the five skillsets and five attributes of empathy · Engage in discussion about empathy “misses” · Discover the how to incorporate self-compassion practices into their lives

It also will provide space for women to share how relationships have developed them into better leaders, shaped their professional success, and helped them better contribute to their field. Topics Discussed: · Mental Health Awareness · Work Life Balance · Empowerment · Professional Elevation * These events are free and open to members and non-members. Details to access the event appear at the end of the registration. You may also pay your DAWN membership/renewal fee of $20 at the time of registration.
