President’s Message

Victoria ChangWelcome to the new academic year 2021-2022!

This past one and a half years have been challenging for everyone — especially for those of us working in higher education. We’ve worked hard to find our footing, discover our new normal, and seek creative ways to navigate working in a virtual setting. Despite these challenges, DAWN (Delaware ACE Women’s Network) has remained consistent in providing professional development to women in higher education. More than ever, we remain committed to our national American Council on Education IDEALS (identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support women in higher education) and will continue to creating programming that elevates this vision.

As we begin the school year, please join me in welcoming DAWN’s new Vice President, Kathy Murphy, MPA and Secretary, Jocelyn Moses. Ms. Murphy is the Associate Director of the Institute for Public Administration at University of Delaware and Ms. Moses is the Director of Residence and Student Life at Goldey-Beacom College. Both have enthusiastically jumped into leadership roles on the Executive Committee this year, and I know we will all benefit from their talents and skills.

I also would like extend my sincere thanks to our outgoing President, Dr. Regina A. Sharpe, who provided superb leadership and mentorship for the past two years and to DAWN’s executive committee for their continued effort and dedication to providing professional development programming.

Most of all, we appreciate you. There is no DAWN without its members who come together in a community of support.  I invite you to renew your connection with colleagues and friends from neighboring colleges and universities or become a new member of DAWN. Our annual membership fee is only $20 and membership expires on August 31, 2022. For your convenience, the membership link is provided: Membership

We plan to deliver our networking and professional development opportunities virtually this Fall and may incorporate some in-person events in the Spring. Please click here for more details about our next event.

As always, we look forward to welcoming back our members and invite others who are interested in learning more about DAWN to visit our website.

Sincerely,
Victoria K. Chang, Ed.D.
DAWN 2021-22 President
